Work with communities to prevent and treat dental/oral disease, correct dental irregularities, and treat dental/facial injuries. |
| Key Responsibilities |
Undertake the following providing you are trained, competent and indemnified.
- Diagnose disease.
- Prepare comprehensive treatment plans.
- Prescribe and provide endodontic procedures.
- Provide oral health advice and care
- Provide post-op after care
- Carry out treatment on patients who are under general anaesthesia
- Prescribe medicines as part of dental treatment
- Prescribe and interpret radiographs

| Main Duties |
- Maintain the required professional registration, indemnity and insurance. Ensuring the appointed compliance manager is provided with copies to obtain as evidence.
- Regularly review practice policies and procedures and ensure these are followed to the best of your ability, where there may be concerns, raise this with your practice manager/principal.
- Manage own programme of continuing professional development to maintain and improve own professional knowledge and competence and to meet the GDC requirements and be prepared to provide training requirements in line with your regulatory bodies’ requirements also (CQC/HIW/HIS)
- Treat patients with empathy and understanding and be professional at all times.
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with all team members to provide high standards of care and service to the patients in line with the practice policies and procedures.
- Conduct referrals to other professionals where the patient needs cannot be met by your current scope of practice and maintain contemptuous records of this.
- Recognise where supervision is necessary and refer appropriate difficult professional or clinical issues to the practice owner or
- Maintain good lines of communication with the practice team in the best interests of patients
- Always obtain valid consent from patients before starting treatment, where this is not possible, ensure the appropriate protocols are followed.
- Keep up to date with and practise in line with current regulations including the guidance from the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners and NICE
- Maintain good oral health among your patients and give appropriate advice.
